Welcome to Imperial Vienna!

We arrived this morning at about 9:00 a.m. in Vienna.  After collecting our luggage at the airport, we headed to the Intercontinental Wien, our home for the next three days.

The hotel is just beautiful!  Here's a photo of the fantastic view of Stadt Park from my room.

Once we'd freshened up, we headed out to get acquainted with Vienna.  Our first stop was the Imperial Palace.   Here are a few photos from the outside:

We toured the Imperial Apartments and the Treasury, the National Library and the Court Tableware and Silver. You won't believe the history found in this massive palace complex! Unfortunately, no photos were allowed in most of the venues, but here's a glimpse of the absolutely beautiful ceiling in the National Library.

After touring Hofburg Palace, we headed back to the hotel.  The weather was great, about 70 degrees and sunny, and the walk only takes 20 minutes or so.  Here's a shot of Karntnerstrasse,  the main pedestrian street, which is full of  shops and coffee shops with wonderful Viennese pastries.

Back at the Intercontinental, it was time to meet with our hotel sales managers, Armand and Katerina.  We toured all of the function space and saw all of the sleeping room categories.   Here's a glimpse of one of the elegently appointed guest rooms.

After our hotel tour, we had a lovely early dinner in the hotel restaurant, Mediterraneo.  The food was great!  I haven't had much sleep, though, so I'm about ready for bed.

Tomorrow we have much more to see, including Belvedere Palace and Albertina Museum.  Please join me on my journey!
